San Antonio, Texas, January 18, 2016 – Eleven distinguished nursing professionals from Morningside Ministries graduated from the highly competitive and sought-after Certified Nurse Executive Program. The highly selective program aims to develop the skills needed to thrive and work in the long-term care senior living industry environment as a healthcare professional. Morningside Ministries nurses made the decision to further excel their knowledge, career and leadership skills as they enrolled in the intense 10 class education course that aims to expand the healthcare professional’s knowledge and help them meet the challenges of long-term care as our senior adult population continues to rise at a steep incline and by the year 2050 is projected to almost double from 43.1 million in 2012 to 83.7 million.
The Graduates of this program include: Mary Blohm, RN; Jennifer Melvin, RN; Sherry Rogers, RN; Tammy-Rodriguez-Collier, RN; Irene Salinas, RN; Maria Wellisch, RN; Alisa Doering, LVN; Julie Reynolds, LVN; Claudia Dull, LVN; Tayana Balderrama, LVN; Elizabeth Richardson, LVN.
“The Certified Nurse Executive program fits with our strategic mission to enhance the dignity and quality of life of older adults, their families and caregivers with compassionate care,” said President and Chief Executive Officer of Morningside Ministries, Alvin Loewenberg. “We could not be more proud of our associates who want to grow professionally and provide better care to our residents.”
The program, in its first year of execution by Morningside Ministries and provided by the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordination (AANAC) has had positive outcomes for staff development and success. AANAC, a premier national nonprofit organization that represents over 14,000 nurses and healthcare professionals in the long-term care industry, has been providing resources and training since 1999. “Long-term care is a distinct field, said Vice President of Training and Education, Maria Wellisch. “The more knowledge we gain the better services we provide for the aging community of San Antonio and surrounding areas.”
Morningside Ministries is San Antonio’s oldest and largest not-for-profit, faith-based, senior care organization dedicated to the specific mission of “Caring For Those Who Cared For Us.” Morningside Ministries has served the San Antonio community since 1961 with Morningside Ministries at the Meadows, Morningside Ministries at The Manor, Morningside Ministries at Chandler Estate and Morningside Ministries at Menger Springs. Today we continue to serve over 900 residents in retirement, assisted living, nursing and memory care.
