The Hoyts have been married for 56 years and shared part of their love story with KENS 5.
Six special couples whose marriages collectively add up to 359 years of love celebrated their long, happy marriages during a special anniversary party at Morningside Ministries at The Manor on June 30.
The lovely couples enjoyed their afternoon as volunteers and staff treated them to light refreshments including sandwiches, sparkling juice and a delicious anniversary cake. The party was initially planned as an anniversary party for the couples who renewed their wedding vows on the same date last year – however, when word spread that it was an anniversary party, other residents showed interest in celebrating their own anniversaries with their spouses.
Activity director Jo Ann Gamboa originally organized last year’s vow renewal ceremony after noticing that many spouses made frequent visits to visit their sweethearts residing at The Manor. She was immediately inspired to organize a special afternoon for them and give them an opportunity to share their love stories with the community.
KENS 5 News Reporter Bryan Wendland honored their love stories during the anniversary party and had the opportunity to speak with Warren Kellerman and Ronald Hoyt, who have been married 73 and 56 years, respectively.
