Morningside Ministries Senior Living Communities is pleased to announce this year’s recipient of the Alvin A. Loewenberg Caregiver Scholarship.
Licensed vocational nurse Serena Pereyda has been awarded the 2019 scholarship in the amount of $4,000. Pereyda will put this scholarship to good use as she completes the LVN to RN program at Galen College of Nursing, where she is currently enrolled.
Pereyda is the third winner of this prestigious award. Generous donors established the scholarship in 2017 to honor the organization’s retiring president and CEO of 26 years. The program reflects Alvin Loewenberg’s and Morningside’s commitment to help employees achieve their educational and career goals in pursuit of nursing excellence.
“Serena shares the strong values that set Morningside apart,” said Irene Salinas, vice president of clinical services, “and she is determined to give even more of herself to residents and fellow caregivers. Serena really is our mission in action.”
This scholarship means much more than a check to Pereyda, who aspires to continue her education and eventually become a nurse practitioner.
“This scholarship will help push me into the next level of nursing and expand not only my knowledge, but also my future opportunities,” she wrote in her application.
