Dear Residents, Family Members, and Friends of Morningside Ministries,
In this week’s COVID-19 update we are reporting one Assisted Living employee at our Meadows community and one Assisted Living employee at our Menger Springs community who have tested positive for COVID-19. Per state requirements and as part of our ongoing efforts to combat this virus, we continue to provide weekly/monthly COVID-19 testing for Skilled Nursing staff. In addition, Morningside remains vigilant in practicing COVID-19 safety precautions and protocols to maintain the well-being of our residents and staff.
As you have likely heard in recent news, the much anticipated COVID-19 vaccine has started being delivered to hospitals in San Antonio. We are excited to share with you that Morningside will be partnering with CVS Pharmacy to provide the COVID-19 vaccine for residents and staff at both communities in the coming weeks. Vaccine prioritization amongst our residents and staff will be determined by CVS Pharmacy, which is aligned with the recommendations of the CDC. At this time, we do not have the exact dates that the vaccine will be administered but will continue to provide you with updates. We are not currently mandating the vaccine for residents or staff members who do not want to receive it, though we highly encourage it for the health and safety of all at Morningside.
We continue to abide by visitation guidelines for senior living facilities set forth by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission to ensure the best chances for you to see your loved ones. However, rules and regulations are subject to change as the situation evolves. Current visitation opportunities are as follows:
- The Menger Springs community will continue to host visitations in Independent Living buildings. Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing will resume visitations once cleared from the state. Please continue to follow the guidelines provided to you by the Executive Director.
- The Meadows community is hosting limited visitations at the Independent Living facilities. Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing are limited to closed window and Essential Caregiver visits by appointment only, especially with the holiday season upon us. To schedule your appointments in advance, please contact your administrator.
With a vaccine in our midst, it’s tempting to let our guards down but, we must remain steadfast in our efforts to practice COVID-19 safety measures. San Antonio and the surrounding areas are currently experiencing dangerously high COVID-19 positivity rates and hospitalizations. Please only celebrate this holiday season with those in your immediate household to help slow the spread of this virus, it is up to each of us to protect our loved ones.
Morningside remains committed to transparency surrounding COVID-19 at our communities, while also respecting the privacy of those involved. We will continue to provide you with weekly updates on our efforts surrounding COVID-19. Thank you for your patience and continued support while we navigate through this challenging situation. Should you have any questions, please contact your respective administrator.
Sincerely,
Morningside Ministries Staff
