Dear Residents, Family Members, and Friends of Morningside Ministries,
Since last week’s COVID-19 update, we are reporting four Skilled Nursing employees and two Nursing residents at the Meadows community who have tested positive for COVID-19. As part of our ongoing efforts to combat this virus and per state requirements, we continue to provide weekly/monthly COVID-19 testing for Skilled Nursing staff. In addition, Morningside remains vigilant in practicing COVID-19 safety precautions and protocols to maintain the well-being of our residents and staff.
We are excited to share that Morningside residents and staff who received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine have started receiving the second dose this week. Morningside continues to partner with CVS Pharmacy and Walgreens to provide vaccinations for residents and staff at both communities in the coming weeks. We are not currently mandating the vaccine for residents and staff members, though we highly encourage it for the health and safety of all at Morningside.
We continue to abide by visitation guidelines for senior living facilities set forth by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission to ensure the best chances for you to see your loved ones. However, rules and regulations are subject to change as the situation evolves. Current visitation opportunities are as follows:
- The Menger Springs will host visitations in Independent Living buildings, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing. Please continue to follow the guidelines provided to you by the Executive Director.
- The Meadows community is hosting limited visitations at the Independent Living facilities. Assisted Living and Skilled Nursing are limited to closed window and Essential Caregiver visits by appointment only. To schedule your appointments in advance, please contact your administrator.
With a vaccine amongst us, it is tempting to let our guards down, but we must remain steadfast in our efforts to practice COVID-19 safety measures. San Antonio and the surrounding areas are currently experiencing dangerously high COVID-19 positivity rates and hospitalizations. Please continue to wear your masks, wash your hands often, and practice social distancing when possible, it is up to each of us to protect our loved ones.
Morningside remains committed to transparency surrounding COVID-19 at our communities, while also respecting the privacy of those involved. We will continue to provide you with weekly updates on our efforts surrounding COVID-19. Thank you for your patience and continued support while we navigate through this challenging situation. Should you have any questions, please contact your respective administrator.
Sincerely,
Morningside Ministries Staff
