Cynthia R. has called Morningside at Menger Springs home since November 2024, settling into the Cibolo House community with grace and comfort. She appreciates the clean, well-maintained environment, the spaciousness of her private room, and the supportive atmosphere created by Cibolo’s memory care team members, whom she praises often for their kindness and care.

One of the things Cynthia enjoys most about Cibolo House is the freedom to stay active. Whether walking outdoors or using her personal exercise bike in her room, she’s committed to maintaining her mobility and independence. She also participates in chair exercises and looks forward to outings, whether it’s a trip to the grocery store, a hair appointment, or a scenic drive. She appreciates the convenience of not having to cook or manage other daily tasks, allowing her more time to focus on the things she loves like reading, taking walks, and attending bible study.

Born on the island (BOI) of Galveston, Texas, and raised in the nearby coastal town of La Marque, Cynthia grew up in a household rooted in service and achievement. Her father was a doctor, her mother a nurse, and she and her two sisters followed suit as accomplished professionals, each earning college degrees. Cynthia’s family loved to travel, and she remembers her childhood as joyful and full of adventure.

Cynthia earned bachelor’s degrees in German and Government from the University of Texas at Austin and later completed a Master of Science in Library Science. During her time at UT, she was a proud member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and it was also where she met the love of her life. She and her future husband began dating as freshmen. After graduation, they married, and Cynthia worked as a librarian in Galveston to help support him during his first year of medical school. He would go on to become a surgeon, and together they enjoyed a beautiful 52-year marriage until his passing three years ago.

Cynthia spent eight years working in the library field, ultimately serving as the Assistant Director of the UT Health Science Center Library before choosing to become a stay-at-home mother. She and her husband raised three daughters: one now in Dallas, one in Virginia, and her daughter Sarah, who lives in San Antonio and is a frequent and loving presence in her life. Sarah often joins Cynthia on outings from Cibolo and brings along two of Cynthia’s twelve grandchildren, Anna and Ellie, who also participate in community events like the recent Easter Egg Hunt at Menger Springs.

With a warm spirit and a strong connection to both family and faith, Cynthia continues to embrace each day at Cibolo House with purpose and positivity. Her story is one of lifelong learning, deep love, and quiet resilience, making her a cherished presence in the Morningside community.
