Dear Friends,
As we reflect on 2025 and look ahead to 2026, I am reminded of how residents, families, board members, and teammates continue to bring about Morningside’s mission of enhancing dignity and quality of life. Each plays a significant role in honoring our past while building a strong future based on our shared faith and the value of older adults.
Green House® Homes at the Meadows
The Green House® homes are nearing completion, and we anticipate welcoming residents into their new households this March. Each home carries a name that reflects the heart of our community:
- Lopez — Honoring Theresa Lopez, our oldest long‑term care resident at 104, whose grace and longevity inspire us all.
- Calgaard — Celebrating Genie Calgaard, past board member, devoted benefactor, and lead campaign donor.
- Mabee — Remembering John and Lottie Mabee, founders of the Mabee Foundation, whose generosity has been instrumental to this project.
- Sunshine — Paying tribute to Sunshine Ranch, the name of this property from 1905–1955 and a cherished part of our history.
These names represent the spirit of Morningside — legacy, generosity, and deep roots of community. We look forward to opening these homes and beginning this new chapter together.
Meadows Independent Living
Skylight replacements are complete, and front and back entry windows will be replaced in the coming weeks. Driveways and sidewalks will follow, with interior renovations planned for later in 2026.
Kaulbach Pavillion at the Meadows
Returning and new residents alike will be amazed by the transformation. The Assisted Living and Medical Resort, including short-stay rehabilitation, will open in March.
Terrace Homes at Menger Springs
Eighty-Four individuals are eagerly awaiting their green light to move into their new apartment homes in February and March. Cascades, our new dining venue, is scheduled to open in February, followed by the wellness center in March.
Vistas at Menger Springs
Site work has begun on the Vistas, which will include 51 new apartment homes. Thirty-eight prospective residents have already joined the Summit Club.
Menger House and Overlook at Menger Springs
New doors and windows are being installed at Menger House, with common area updates scheduled for early 2026.
Mission Home and Community Services
Mission home health, hospice and personal assistance began operating in February. We anticipate continued growth as more Morningside residents and those residing in the broader community learn about these options.
Valuing each other
Now in its seventh year, the Academy for Career Excellence continues to thrive, with 20 to 30 students participating annually across its three program levels. In spring 2025, 25 students graduated, and 30 are currently enrolled in the 2025–26 class. The ACE Alumni Association includes 19 former students who now give back in meaningful ways, including teaching monthly classes to residents. Three alumni are now certified Positive Approach to Care (PAC) trainers, providing education for fellow teammates.
Special thanks to Wes Wells and Ben for training more than 1,000 teammates in the Green House model of care. This approach requires additional training beyond existing certifications, and their leadership has been invaluable. We are also grateful to Emily Jellick, Shane Balero, and Tasnim Akhtar, certified PAC trainers and ACE graduates, who led a six-hour dementia care training session at the Meadows campus.
Congratulations as well to Chris Anderson on being accepted into the Leadership Collective program through LeadingAge Texas. This opportunity will further support his growth as a leader and team member.
Development – Mission Support
In 2025, your gifts made it possible for residents to remain in their homes even when finances grew tight. Because of you, residents continued to receive nourishing meals, safe housing, and programs that bring laughter, music, art, and friendship into daily life. Every moment of joy, connection, and dignity carries the imprint of your generosity. This year, 479 donors contributed a total of $965,000, making 2025 one of our strongest fundraising years yet, with that total continuing to grow through December 31. We are especially grateful that 65 percent of donors gave again this year and that 135 new supporters joined our community of care. Your kindness shapes daily life at Morningside in lasting ways.
We are also pleased to share that Rob Mitchell, a well-known fundraising professional, will serve as an additional resource for residents interested in gift annuities and other financial planning tools.
Looking Ahead
As we open new buildings and serve more people, we remain grounded in a simple truth: we are people who serve people. We do so with deep appreciation for our residents, families, and teammates who make all of this possible. Our focus on growth, innovation, and caring for one another continues to position Morningside as a place where people want to live and work.
Thank you for your unwavering support and partnership.
With gratitude,
Patrick Crump
