Each fall, residents at Morningside Ministries in San Antonio come together to celebrateย Dรญa de los Muertos by creating a beautifulย ofrenda, or offering altar. Rooted in Mexican tradition, the ofrenda honors the memory of loved ones who have passed, and is traditionally decorated with candles, marigolds, photographs, and favorite foods of the departed.

At our Morningside at The Meadows and Chandler Estate communities, residents and staff collaborate each year to design the ofrenda. They share photos, stories, and mementos of family and friends, transforming remembrance into a collective act of love and connection. Residents also take time to learn about the meaning behind each element placed on the ofrenda. Through this shared experience, the Morningside community not only honors the past but also deepens its appreciation for the rich cultural traditions that continue to bring people together across generations.
