A Home for David and Jane…Thanks to You!
Thank you for creating a loving and caring community for a family in need.
David and Jane raised their three children, Deke, Cody, and Katy just blocks away. David’s grandmother lived at The Manor. Later, his mother moved into The Meadows and eventually transitioned to Kaulbach Assisted Living and then to the Manor.
So when David and Jane needed more support, Morningside was the only place the family hoped for. But they didn’t think it was financially possible. David had Parkinson’s, and caring for him at home was getting harder and more costly. Still, the thought of living at Morningside seemed out of reach — until their son, Cody, met with Morningside’s then-CEO, Alvin Loewenberg.
“If their retirement funds ever run out,” Loewenberg said, “the Covenant Fund, which is a donor-supported resource that ensures no resident is ever asked to leave due to lack of funds, will cover the rest. They’ll never be asked to leave.”
David and Jane were stunned. “We could actually live there?” they asked, eyes filled with disbelief — and tears of joy.
Even as their health needs changed, Morningside stayed close. When Jane needed memory care, she was moved to Morningside’s Menger Springs community and David soon followed, entering nursing care there just to remain near her. When David passed, his former nursing assistant, Thalia, came in on her day off just to say goodbye and remember all the wonderful experiences of caring for David.
That is the heart of Morningside, according to Deke, Cody and Katy: “It’s not just a place to live, it’s the people and their true love and concern for all the residents.”
When their savings ran out, donors like you stepped in. As Cody said, “The Covenant Fund closed the gap. My parents never knew. They just knew they were safe, cared for, and together.”

A Loving Community for Josie
All thanks to you, Josie has a place she can call home!
Josie’s life changed completely when her husband died suddenly.
She believed their savings would provide financial security throughout their lives. Her late husband’s passing revealed a devastating truth about their empty savings account.
As she dealt with her grief and fear, Josie confronted a situation that no senior citizen should face, which involved the potential loss of her home. But then something beautiful happened.

When residents need urgent help, the Morningside Covenant Fund extends beyond monetary support by serving as a steadfast commitment. It protects Morningside residents who have exhausted their financial resources from having to leave their homes because of financial difficulties.
Thanks to you, Josie is doing much better. She no longer spends her nights awake worrying about bill payments. Instead, she enjoys weekly bingo nights and afternoon walks with her neighbors. Your gift gave Josie the stability she needed to enjoy peace of mind.
