You Gave Dorothy a Garden… and So Much More!

Dorothy is immensely thankful for your generous support!

A lively retiree at 92 years old, Dorothy has always had a green thumb. But she didn’t have a way to garden at The Meadows. Thanks to donors like you, Dorothy now has a garden and a place to grow her favorite flowers and vegetables!

You helped install raised garden beds for Dorothy and all residents to enjoy.

“I love getting my hands in the soil,” Dorothy says as she tends to her raised garden bed behind the Meadows Atrium. “It’s so peaceful, and it keeps me busy.”

Dorothy shared that the garden gives her purpose: “I wake up excited to see what’s grown. And I love sharing veggies with friends. It brings us together.”

Thanks to you, she’s cultivating more than just plants. Dorothy is cultivating joy and vitality!

The easy-access garden beds you helped provide give all residents the chance to experience the benefits of gardening. Gardening improves mobility, balance, and heart health. It reduces stress, boosts mood, and even lowers the risk of dementia.

Thanks to you, Dorothy and other residents are not just growing flowers and vegetables. They’re growing friendships, health, and happiness. You helped bring nature, healing, and joy to the whole community.

You Helped Keep Jane Moving!

With your support, Jane stays active and healthy!

When it became unsafe for her to drive to the YMCA for her workouts, Jane was worried how she would keep her body moving. Since she has vascular problems, it was important to her to exercise.

Thanks to a caring community like you, Jane and other Chandler Estate residents have access to their very own fitness room right at home! Your gift helped provide fitness equipment that keeps residents moving, no matter the weather outside or if they have the ability to drive.

Jane is a regular in the fitness room. It’s right down the hall for her. Even at 93, she works out four days a week! Her routine includes 20 minutes each on the rowing machine and elliptical trainer. She also does leg lifts, sit-ups, and dumbbells. And she does it all thanks to you!

“It’s probably keeping me alive, too,” Jane says with a smile. “I always say, ‘keep moving’ so you don’t stiffen up and blow away!”

With a wink, she adds, “If only we had a treadmill…”

Do you see what your gift did? It didn’t just give Jane fitness equipment. You gave her independence, strength, and joy.

Thank you for adding life to her years!

A Sanctuary for Everyone… Thanks to You!

When Tom moved into Menger Springs, he saw potential behind the wood shop. He saw a quiet patch of land waiting to bloom. So he rallied a few neighbors, rolled up his sleeves, and together they built something beautiful.

And you were a part of it, too!

Thanks to generous hearts like yours and a lot of love, the formerly unused area is now a sanctuary for all residents at Menger Springs.

The sanctuary is now a waterscape oasis with birdhouses, feeders, and flower gardens. “This is my backyard,” Tom says. “It’s everyone’s backyard. We wanted to make it a peaceful environment.”

Residents can now take a stroll to hear the trill of tiny toads and the sound of falling water. They can watch the butterflies flutter about. And they love the birdwatching!

With your help, residents have a place to experience nature right at home. Studies show that time in nature improves memory, lowers stress, and lifts mood.

Tom jokes that next time he’ll “hire someone younger to lift the rocks,” but he’d do it all again.

You didn’t just help build a garden. You helped build peace, community, and joy. Thank you for making an incredible difference!
