Meet Your Neighbors

Jane & Tuffy Burton

The BurtonsJane and Tuffy Burton have lived in the Terrace Homes at Menger Springs since April of this year. When friends ask how they feel about their big move, Jane responds, β€œUndeniably, it was the best thing we ever did.”

The Burtons relocated from nearby Fair Oaks in Boerne. They had many friends who had already made the move to Menger Springs and just felt it made a lot of sense for them to follow suit. So, a little over two years ago, they started doing some research with an eye on the Terrace Homes. Jane recalls how impressed she was with the staff, who were β€œjust wonderful…they were understanding of our questions and just wanted to be as clear as they could about everything.”

And while they did already have friends at Menger Springs, they found it very easy to add to their circle. β€œThis has got to be the friendliest place on earth,” says Jane. Plus, they still feel like they are home since they are near Boerne and thus their church, friends, doctors, and the like. They also have family nearby who pop in regularly to share a meal.

The beauty and convenience of the Menger Springs campus have impressed the Burtons. The β€œnative trees and landscaping are wonderful,” Jane notes. They and their dog enjoy using the nice walking paths and love meeting other dog owners and their pets along the way. Tuffy mentions how beautiful the new Cascades venue is. There are lots of places to eat, and it’s nice being able to choose whether or not you want to prepare your own meals at any given time.

Another perk of life at Menger is how simple it is to get aroundβ€”you can walk, drive, or take the provided shuttle service which goes all over campus. And it’s a good thing, because there are always things going on! β€œIt’s like a cruise ship!” Jane laughs. β€œThere’s something to do every day!” Tuffy hits the modern wellness center several times a week, and praises amenities such as its fitness center, trainers, classes, and a brand-new, large pool.

Making the decision to change homes is rarely easy, and as we age, the exertion of a move can be especially intimidating. β€œWe didn’t feel like we could wait too many more years to move,” notes Jane. Tuffy adds, β€œWe both agreed it was a good thing we didn’t wait much longer because it was exhausting.” They downsized from a much larger home but quickly realized that the amount of space they actually used there is about the same as their place in the Terrace Homes. Other advantages of the move include having fewer bills to keep up with and chores to do. β€œWe don’t miss the outdoor work!” remarks Jane.

When asked about the actual logistics of moving, Jane says, β€œI would circle back around to how the staff here at Menger were so great.” They had organized lists of recommendationsβ€”everything from estate sale organizers to packers and moversβ€”which made planning easier. Jane also mentions how great the workers they hired were, thus making the vetted list a big plus.

If you cannot tell, the Burtons have been very pleased with all aspects of their move and are enjoying their new home immensely. Jane sums it up well: β€œWe’re really sold on this place!”

Construction Update

Progress at The Vistas

The foundation (literally) of The Vistas is well under wayβ€”the majority of the site utilities are now complete, and all under-slab plumbing is finished. Our teams are actively constructing the building foundations while carefully coordinating the complex podium deck that will support the parking garage below. This important process is laying the foundation for one of the community’s standout featuresβ€”a beautifully designed second-story walkout courtyard that future residents will enjoy for years to come. Once the podium deck is complete, we’ll move on to primary framing and exterior architectural work. It’s all coming along nicely, so stay tuned!
