Our therapeutic recreation approach to memory support includes developing an activity service plan for each individual that serves the whole person – hobbies they enjoy, their religious practices, their families, and so much more. We get to know each memory care resident by making sure we understand their levels of cognitive, physical, emotional, social and spiritual abilities. By assessing the resident’s strengths and their areas for growth, we are able to provide support where needed.

A day at Morningside Ministries Memory Care incorporates a variety of physical activities such as daily exercises, outdoor walks, and gardening. We also exercise cognitive functions by doing things like reciting the Pledge of Allegiance, discussing current events, history, art and music. Residents can attend worship services, participate in games, movie nights, and group dining. We also incorporate digital activities such as virtual drumming classes, animal visits, and online cooking shows! We also encourage our residents to engage with technology by utilizing Skype, FaceTime and Zoom to stay connected with loved ones!
