Dear Residents, Family Members, and Friends of Morningside Ministries,

In this week’s COVID-19 update we are reporting two employees at our Meadows community who have tested positive, and one offsite Home Health patient who resides in the broader San Antonio community has also tested positive for COVID-19. Neither the employees nor the patient who tested positive have had exposure to any other Morningside staff, residents, or patients. Please rest assured that part of our ongoing effort to combat this virus and per state requirements, weekly/monthly COVID-19 testing for Skilled Nursing staff continues to be provided.

The COVID-19 positivity rate in the San Antonio area continues to rise – which means the virus is still spreading within our community. We urge you to continue to take every precaution possible; wear a mask, wash your hands often, stay six feet apart from others, and take extra precautions for those at higher risk – such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions. Please remember that people with COVID-19 can have a wide range of symptoms – from mild to severe – and according to the CDC, symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure. It is important that we continue to monitor ourselves and our loved ones for symptoms to help prevent the spread. If you feel ill, err on the side of caution and stay home if possible.

Morningside continues to work diligently within the Texas Health & Human Services’ visitation guidelines for senior living facilities, to ensure the best chances for you to see your loved ones. However, please know rules and regulations are subject to change as the situation continues to evolve. Current visitation opportunities are as follows:

  • The Menger Springs community is hosting visitations at all levels of living. Please continue to follow the guidelines provided to you by the Executive Director.
  • Due to the positive cases among staff members at The Meadows community, in-person visitations will be designated to Essential Caregivers only. To schedule a visit via closed window, or via Facetime/Google Duo, please email: MeadowsVisitations@mmliving.org or call (210) 731-1204.

Morningside remains committed to transparency surrounding COVID-19 at our communities, while also respecting the privacy of those involved. We will continue to provide you with weekly updates on our efforts surrounding COVID-19. As always, thank you for your patience and continued support while we navigate through this challenging situation. Should you have any questions, please contact your respective administrator.

Sincerely,

Morningside Ministries Staff
