Morningside Ministries celebrated 65 years of caring for older adults and their families at its 7th Annual Legacy of Grace Luncheon presented by Morrison Living on October 21, 2026. The luncheon brought together community supporters, partners and friends at The Ralston at the San Antonio Zoo for an afternoon centered on connection, compassion and a shared commitment to families affected by dementia.
This year’s luncheon held special significance as Morningside introduced the No Family Alone Dementia Support Fund, a new initiative designed to help families navigate the challenges of a dementia diagnosis through access to Dementia Navigators, practical guidance and trusted community resources.
The program featured Jaime Cobb Tinsley, CHW, CMDCP, Vice President of Family & Professional Education at the James L. West Center for Dementia Care. In her presentation, “After the Diagnosis: Finding a Way Forward,” Tinsley shared insight into the challenges families face following a dementia diagnosis and the importance of having reliable information, compassionate guidance and support throughout the journey. With more than two decades of experience in dementia and caregiver education, she has helped thousands of caregivers build confidence and compassion while preserving dignity and connection.
The luncheon also featured a personal story from Morningside resident Dee Potts, who shared her experience as a caregiver to her husband, Bob. Her reflections offered a firsthand perspective on the realities families encounter when navigating dementia and underscored the importance of connecting caregivers with support and resources as early as possible. Her story brought the purpose of the No Family Alone initiative into focus, reminding attendees that families should not have to face these challenges without guidance and support.
Through the No Family Alone Dementia Support Fund, Morningside Ministries aims to expand access to Dementia Navigators who will help approximately 150 families each year. These navigators will help families find answers to difficult questions, understand health care decisions, connect with trusted services in the community and identify a path forward tailored to their needs.
For 65 years, Morningside Ministries has remained committed to enhancing the dignity and quality of life of older adults and the families who love them. The No Family Alone initiative extends that commitment beyond traditional senior care, strengthening Morningside’s Circle of Care for families navigating the complexities of dementia.
The luncheon also generated strong early support for the new fund, with $29,000 in additional gifts and pledges received during the event. Combined with the $119,000 raised before the luncheon, contributions totaled $148,000 as of October 21, with additional fundraising results still being calculated.
As Morningside Ministries reflects on 65 years of compassionate service, the launch of No Family Alone represents an important next step in its ongoing mission. The initiative carries Morningside’s tradition of caring forward, extending support to more families and reinforcing a simple but meaningful promise: when dementia changes a family’s life, no one should have to navigate it alone.
