Dear Residents, Family Members, and Friends of Morningside Ministries,

We would first like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your patience and understanding while we weathered through last week’s winter storm. Much like the rest of the city and state, we experienced our own set of power-related challenges. However, thanks to our resilient staff and residents, we were able to make it through relatively unscathed. In the words of Meadows resident, Ms. Purcell, “Y’all have just come through with such shining stars in your crowns, all of you! You all were wonderful to get out there and take the staff to and fro in those icy conditions so that we could have someone to take care of us! I am just so glad to live here!” We understand you might have questions or comments regarding events surrounding last week’s storm, so we invite residents and family members to share that feedback with us by emailing: info@mmliving.org.

We are also happy to share that all residents and staff at both communities remain COVID-19 free. As part of our ongoing efforts to combat the virus and per state requirements, we continue to provide weekly testing for Skilled Nursing staff. In addition, we remain vigilant in practicing COVID-19 safety precautions and protocols throughout our communities.

To date, all levels of care and all staff at Morningside have been offered the COVID-19 vaccine. Our overall staff vaccination rate between both communities sits at 70%. We continue to educate our staff on the details and importance of the vaccine, and though we are highly encouraging the vaccine for the health and safety of all at Morningside, we are not currently mandating it.

Morningside continues to abide by visitation guidelines for senior living facilities set forth by the Texas Health & Human Services Commission to ensure the best chances for you to see your loved ones. However, rules and regulations are subject to change as the situation evolves. Current visitation opportunities are as follows:

  • Menger Springs is hosting outdoor visitations in Independent Living buildings, Assisted Living, Memory Care, and Skilled Nursing. We continue hosting essential caregiver visits at Cibolo House and Kendall House. Independent Living continues indoor visits with designated essential guests. Please continue to follow the guidelines provided to you by the Executive Director.
  • The Meadows is hosting limited visitations at the Independent Living facilities. Assisted Living is hosting outdoor and indoor booth visitations, as well as Essential Caregiver visits by appointment only. Skilled Nursing is now hosting outdoor visitations and Essential Caregiver visits by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, please contact your administrator.

Morningside remains committed to transparency surrounding COVID-19 at our communities, while also respecting the privacy of those involved. We will continue to provide you with weekly updates on our efforts surrounding COVID-19. Thank you for your patience and continued support while we navigate through this challenging situation. Should you have any questions, please contact your respective administrator.

Sincerely,

Morningside Ministries Staff
