September 2026 was a milestone month at Morningside Ministries at The Meadows as we celebrated the grand openings of three transformative projects: Morningside Homes, Kaulbach Pavilion and Morningside Medical Resort.
Over the course of two days, residents, families, team members, community leaders and dedicated partners gathered to celebrate these exciting additions to The Meadows campus. Together, the three projects expand and enhance the continuum of care available at The Meadows while creating welcoming, purposefully designed spaces where residents can live, receive care, recover and thrive.
Morningside Homes: A New Approach to Long-Term Care
Our first celebration honored the opening of Morningside Homes, four residential-style homes designed around the nationally recognized Green House® model.
Located near the Medical Resort, each home is designed for 12 residents, creating a more intimate environment that feels like home rather than a traditional long-term care setting. With private rooms, shared living spaces and a familiar residential atmosphere, Morningside Homes places relationships, choice and meaningful daily life at the center of the experience.
Together, the four homes provide 48 new residences and represent the first Green House homes in San Antonio and South Texas.
The grand opening was especially meaningful as we welcomed residents and their families into these beautiful new homes and celebrated the many people who helped bring this vision to life. The homes are designed not simply as places to receive care, but as real homes where residents can continue to live life on their own terms, surrounded by the people and relationships that matter most.
Kaulbach Pavilion: Expanded Assisted Living and Memory Care Neighborhoods
The following day, we celebrated the transformation of Kaulbach Pavilion, which has been thoughtfully renovated to provide expanded Assisted Living and Memory Care services.
The newly re-imagined Assisted Living neighborhood features 43 residences, while a new 18-residence Memory Care neighborhood provides a specialized environment designed around the unique needs of individuals living with dementia.
From comfortable residences and inviting common areas to thoughtfully designed spaces that encourage connection and engagement, the renovations were guided by a commitment to providing residents with comfort, safety, independence and compassionate support.
With 61 residences across the two neighborhoods, the transformation of Kaulbach Pavilion significantly expands the options available to residents and families at The Meadows.
Morningside Medical Resort: A New Standard for Rehabilitation
Our third grand opening celebrated the newly transformed Morningside Medical Resort, a dedicated short-term rehabilitation neighborhood designed to support recovery in a comfortable, welcoming environment.
The Medical Resort features 24 private rehabilitation suites along with spaces designed to support therapy, wellness and everyday life. Residents have access to an advanced physical and occupational therapy gym, including specialized equipment for strength, balance and fall prevention.
The Medical Resort also offers specialized clinical services, including advanced wound care, tracheostomy care, PleurX drain support and on-site dialysis.
Comfort and hospitality are equally important to the experience. Private suites feature walk-in showers, ceiling-mounted patient lifts, recliners and individual climate control. Residents can also enjoy an always-available dining menu, room-service delivery, cognitive activities, group therapies and amenities such as hair care, mini massages, aromatherapy, a coffee bar and culinary workshops.
Together, these features create an environment focused not only on rehabilitation and clinical care, but also on the comfort and well-being of each individual during their recovery.
Celebrating the Future of The Meadows
These three grand openings represent a significant investment in the future of The Meadows and in our commitment to providing compassionate, person-centered care throughout every stage of life.
From the intimate, residential environment of Morningside Homes to the enhanced Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods at Kaulbach Pavilion and the specialized rehabilitation services at Morningside Medical Resort, these new spaces strengthen the continuum of care available to residents and families.
We are deeply grateful to the dedicated partners who helped bring these projects to life, including METRO, our general contractor; DFD Architects, whose expertise helped shape these spaces; and the Kronkosky Charitable Foundation and Baptist Health Foundation of San Antonio, whose generous support contributed to these important investments in the future of The Meadows.

As we celebrated these milestones during our 65th anniversary year, the grand openings offered another meaningful reminder of Morningside Ministries’ ongoing commitment to enhancing the dignity and quality of life of older adults and their families through compassionate care.
The future of The Meadows is here, and we are excited to continue building on the legacy that has made Morningside Ministries a trusted part of the San Antonio community for 65 years.
